We just spent a quick 48 hours in San Diego, basically so I could say we went on vacation and so the kids feel like they got to have a little vacation too. For whatever reason the thought of staying in a Hotel to them is the BIGGEST treat!
I spent some time browsing through blogs and google researching “kid friendly” resort options, I came across the Omni La Costa Resort .
I was definitely looking for the best bang for my buck! When we arrived our room wasn’t ready, but they were very accommodating. We were able to bell check our bags and use their pools and other hotel amenities. The pools alone, were PLENTY for my kids. If, I had not already purchased Zoo tickets before, we would have had no reason to leave this Resort. They have a full weeks work of events throughout the day and evening for the entire family to utilize, including, Yoga, Meditation, Golf, Kids Arcade, “Kidtopia” a HUGE kids club with hourly crafts and events. Award winning Day spa, Tennis, Kids Fitness boot-camp. Full adult fitness center, Movies at the Pool, S’more making, On site boutiques, Peet’s Coffee shop (my fave), Steak House, and a great bistro that over looks the entire golf course and back end of the property, with a great kids buffet!
Our hotel room, was impressive. usually you spend a few hundred bucks on a cramped room, with no bath tub, and no view. Our room was their middle price point. We had an upstairs spacious room that over looked our pool that was separate from the properties main pools. Our room had 2 queen beds, with a full size pull out bed. we had 5 people in that room and it was not cramped by any means. Our bathroom was ultra fancy, all marble, jacuzzi soaking tub and a big walk in marble shower. The kids LOVED it.
I highly recommend looking into this resort if you’re thinking about planning a Family San Diego vacation!
Yesterday we went to our favorite zoo, the San Diego Zoo! I bought our tickets at AAA, and saved 15%
I recommend looking into the Discovery Tour they offer at the zoo, its a private tour of the zoo, on a shaded cart along with your own personal Zoo Tour guide! its about an 1.5 hour, but with small kids, and the heat it was worth the money! Another good thing to know is when you buy they’re reusable zoo drinking cups, they can be re-filled as many times as you want for FREE the day you purchase them, and $0.99 to refill them on future zoo trips. It was 80+ degrees when we were there so it came in handy to be able to refill our ice waters multiple times that day!
